What do you think — how should we breathe correctly? Through the nose or through the mouth? And what about exhaling underwater — nose or mouth?
The inhale is always through the mouth. Only through the mouth.
And the exhale is through both the nose and the mouth at the same time. It might seem impossible, but it actually works. When you exhale, you need to push the air out forcefully, and it doesn’t really matter which way it goes — what matters is that you get all the air out. Usually, the nose alone isn’t enough, that’s why swimmers exhale through both nose and mouth together.
The inhale is quick and deep. Then we hold the breath for a moment, and after that comes a strong exhale — we actively engage the exhalation muscles and breathe out through both the nose and mouth at once.
Let’s try it together now, ten times, in freestyle rhythm
It’s designed for every skill level and comes with printable illustrations.
I recommend printing it in color (the pictures don’t show well in black and white), putting it into plastic sleeves, and taking it straight to the pool.
